Katherine Burr

Katherine is a composer, teacher and performing vocalist. She completed her studies at the ICMP, attaining a first class degree in popular music performance. She currently performs with professional vocal ensemble, ProVoc, and folk band EdwardAlice, who’s summer festival run included the Isle of Wight Festival, Secret Garden Party and Cambridge Folk Festival.

Alongside her degree, Katherine also completed a peripatetic teaching licentiate, and within her seven years of experience, has taught at various colleges and schools in Cambridge and London.

Where did you study music? I completed my BMus(Hons) at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, in north west London.
What is your favourite piece of music? A Boy and a Girl, by Eric Whitacre.
What single thing could you not live without? A good cup of tea.
Who has inspired you the most? My good friend, Rowan Marshall, who composes for, and directs, musical theatre companies and choirs, and who threw me in the deep end.
Where did you grow up? I moved from Rugby to Cambridge at a young age, before coming to London for university.
