Laura Mildner studied for a BA in singing, singing teaching and conducting at the Landeskonservatorium in Feldkirch, Austria, a satellite institution of the Salzburg Mozarteum, graduating with distinction last summer.
Next to her studies she was the Choir Director of various choirs such as the Dornbirn Frohsinn Choir, the Götzis Male Voice Choir and the Song Circle Hatlerdorf. She also co-conducted the Bregenz Festival Chorus and the Chorus of the Operetta Balzers in Liechtenstein.
Laura was running the regional division of a social music programme in Austria called superar. It is organised along the lines of the Venezuelan El Sistema Children’s Orchestra but focusses on creating choirs in primary schools which are lying in socially disadvantaged areas with a high percentage of underprivileged children.
Laura has worked as a professional singer, including being a member of the Bregenz Festival Chorus. She performed both as a soloist and as a member of the chorus. She also performed at the Festival Musique Cordiale in Provence under David Bates, the Spitalfields Festival and the Palestine Choral Festival with the Choir of London under Jeremy Summerly and Paul Kildea.
Currently Laura is the Conductor of the BNP Paribas-Choir and the Aviva-Choir and works as a freelance singer since moving to London in summer 2014.
