Since 2007 Music In Offices has provided musical solutions to business problems

A Brief History of Music in Offices

2007 at MIO

In 2007 Music in Offices opened it’s doors to it’s first client, Norton Rose Fulbright. With 30 participating employees, we provided singing and instrumental tuition including: saxophone, piano and flute lessons. Having offered instrumental and singing tutelage for a number of years, in 2010 we debuted our ‘Office Choir of the Year’ competition.

Office Choir of the Year has quickly become our headlining event. Held bi-annually, this event provides a stage for participating employees of office choirs to meet and compete against each other. Performing choirs hail from all industries and use the opportunity to showcase their talents. Participating in an office choir allows staff an outlet for the daily stresses occurred from work and encourages comradery between colleagues, so we always take great pleasure seeing choirs get involved and engaged in the competition.

2011 & 2012 at MIO

In 2011 we revealed our new, re-branded look. We updated our logo and colours, modernised the design layout of the site and amended our sitemap. Our re-brand was shortly followed by Music in Offices being short-listed for a Royal Philharmonic Society award for educational work in 2012.

2014 at MIO

We have been lucky enough to have featured press in many established publications. One of the highlights was being featured in the Sunday Times.

2015 at MIO

In 2015, we were honoured to join the London Choral Sinfonia, and many other performers, to celebrate 50th jubilee celebration of the charitable organisation, Contact the Elderly. The event was held at the beautiful venue of St. Paul’s, where after performances guests dined in the crypts.

2016 at MIO

2016 was a busy year for us with our choirs performing at lots of prestigious venues across the Capital, a Leadership Development Workshop at Lloyds Banking Group, delivering a successful and well attended Office Choir of the Year event – crowning the Deloitte choir as the winners and being shortlisted for a National Business Award!

2017 at MIO

2017 has been an eventful year for us so far with the appointment of Ann Barkway as Executive Director in January and working with brilliant new choirs at London Zoo, BABC and A&E. We’ve also delivered lots of Development Workshops including a samba drumming session with Citi as part of their Diversity Week which involved over a hundred samba drums!

2017 is also our anniversary year – we’ve been creating harmony in the workplace for ten years. Cheers to that!
