Laurel Neighbour / Conductor

Laurel is a conductor, singing teacher and soprano. As well as working for Music in Offices she conducts the British Humanist Choir, works with children as Project Director of Dartford Choral Project, and teaches singing privately.

She sings herself with many choirs in London such as St Martin’s Voices at St Martin in the Fields, National Portrait Gallery Choir, Genesis Sixteen, and Gareth Malone’s Voices

What was the first piece you conducted? 

I think it was Locus Iste by Bruckner- classic!

What is your favourite piece of music? (choral or non-choral) 

I’m a big fan of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, I think it has everything and is totally awesome to rock out to.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life? 

My singing teacher as I was growing up helped me discover my love of singing, so I’m forever grateful to him.

Where did you grow up? 

I grew up in Kent but also lived for a while in Paris.

What single item could you not live without? 

My bed!
