Building on the success of last years’ ‘City of Women’ project, we are excited to share our plans for 2025! We would love YOUR support to take part and spread the word to help create another inspiring, conscious celebration of women in the City.

You may have enjoyed last years’ event, experienced a MIO event, have access to a group who love to sing or be someone with a vested interest in the ‘International Women’s Day’ mission to #AccelerateAction to advance and celebrate women’s equity worldwide.

Hard to capture the essence in words, last years’ event was full of heart warming moments and captivating performances. The words of women in high profile City roles who have broken the mould were weaved into the performance, sharing inspiring messages of female empowerment.

These included Julia Hoggett, CEO of the Stock Exchange, although not the first female CEO, the first openly gay female CEO. And Caroline Al-Beyerty, the 81st Chamberlain in unbroken succession from 1237 to the present, Caroline is the first woman to hold this office.

You can listen to the words of these women and more mould breakers here...

And for a snapshot of last years’ amazing event, here’s a highlight video…

TAKE PART!

Thursday 6th March 2025

We plan to fill spaces and City streets with women and allies. We will come together to connect, celebrate, sing and march from Leadenhall Market, through the iconic Royal Exchange, to finish at the historic Guildhall Yard.

(Yes, we said sing!)

This year, the performance will also incorporate the words of #WomenInAction, women whose current roles and actions contribute to the engine at the heart of the City’s operations.

Please mark your calendar and sign up to take part on ‘EVENT DAY’. We will release further details in due course. And of course we appreciate some may not be able to attend to the full event, so welcome a flow of feet and voices throughout the afternoon.

To feel prepared, we invite you to join at least one of three ‘rehearsal’ sessions. Whether you consider yourself to be a ‘singer’ or not, we welcome all voices and every voice matters to us. You don’t need to be musically experienced as we know first hand the magic that happens when a group of people add their voices to a collective.

“I came with my colleagues and thought the event was absolutely brilliant. We took the website at its word saying people of all abilities were welcome and had an absolute blast! It was great to have a chance to do something creative and meaningful on International Women's Day”
Amy Ingham, The Good Economy

Preparation sessions take place at a City location to be confirmed on:

19th February (6-7pm)

25th February (1-2pm)

4th March (6-7pm)

If you can’t make any of these dates, please do still register for the main event as we will also circulate resources for you to join in.

Separate event at the London Stock Exchange

To round off the day of celebration, there will be a separate private performance at the London Stock Exchange Group in partnership with the LSEG Singers Group to mark the close of the financial markets, followed by a short drinks reception.

Please share share share!

Let’s shout it from the rooftops!

Please help reach as many women and allies as possible with this event. We encourage you to forward this email, share social media posts (links to channels below) and to talk to your networks about this amazing opportunity!

It’s not every day you get the chance to sing on the steps of the Royal Exchange with a live band!  (Did we forget to mention that?)

Business or singing group representatives, please do get in touch to follow up, we can schedule a coffee, come and meet with any network chairs or resource groups and provide additional resources to support internal promotion.
