Based in North London, tenor and choral conductor Dan Gilchrist directs the acclaimed professional vocal group Selene, is the director of music at St Etheldreda’s, Hatfield, and is active as a freelance singer in both choral and solo contexts.
Having grown up as an aspiring cellist and composer in Gloucestershire (ambitions to be a professional attacking midfielder having been rudely quashed in his early teens), Dan’s love affair with singing began in earnest as a choral scholar at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge. Following this he founded Selene during a stint as a Lay Clerk at New College, Oxford, and took up his current position at St Etheldreda’s soon afterwards, where he now runs one of the finest church choirs in Hertfordshire, with a large and expanding mixed front row of U16 singers. Dan brings a wealth of musical experience to his work with amateur choirs having worked as a singer with the best directors and groups in the business including tight-knit consort VOCES8 and conductors John Wilson and Jeremy Summerly.
Dan is grateful to study singing with the incomparable genius David Pollard
