Rachael is a flautist currently in her final year of study on the Orchestral Artistry Masters degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is an alumnus of the Royal Northern College of Music, where she graduated with a First Class Honours degree. During her studies, she has received tuition from Laura Jellicoe, Janet Richardson, Sarah Newbold, Ian Clarke, Philippa Davies, Gareth Davies, Christopher Green and Michael Cox.

Born in Aberdeen, Rachael started learning the flute and piano at the age of 9. She received scholarship lessons at the North East of Scotland Music School and then completed two years of study at the Aberdeen City Music School. Having found a passion for orchestral playing, she became involved in many performances around Scotland, performing regularly with ensembles such as the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.

Since moving to London, Rachael has had the opportunity to work closely with members of the London Symphony Orchestra, performing in side by side projects and participating in outreach work with the LSO Discovery department. She has also worked on side by side projects with the London Mozart Players, Manchester Camerata and the Hallé Orchestra. Rachael has recently been awarded a position as one of the artists on the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Emerging Musicians Fellowship programme, which has given her the opportunity to perform with the orchestra during their 2022-23 season and to work with the RLPO education department. As a freelancer she has also performed with the English Symphony Orchestra.

Aside from her solo and orchestral engagements, Rachael is also a keen chamber musician and teacher, and is always looking ahead to new projects in which she can connect and communicate with others through music.
